Filovirus collaborative open research consortium research priorities for the ongoing Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak

Overview

Bundibugyo virus remains one of the least studied Orthoebolaviruses with no licensed vaccine or treatment. This document sets out ten research priorities developed through the WHO research and development blueprint for epidemics, building on the filovirus collaborative open research consortium roadmap and in collaboration with international partners, to accelerate evidence generation during the ongoing Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak.

It covers disease characterization, community engagement, diagnostics, clinical management, therapeutics, vaccines and post-exposure prophylaxis, and outlines an implementation framework across the immediate, ongoing and post-outbreak phases.
