Training toolkit on substandard and falsified medical products

Overview

The World Health Organization (WHO) is committed to ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of medical products worldwide. Substandard and falsified medical products (SFMPs) pose a significant risk to health systems worldwide, undermining the trust in health care, endangering lives and exacerbating the burden on already strained health resources. WHO’s prevent–detect–respond strategy to combat SFMPs highlights education as a function of the prevention pillar. Implementation of the education and awareness strategic function requires involvement of the health workforce and ensuring they have received adequate training. Too few health care professionals receive formal instruction on SFMPs during their training or professional practice.
