Brief description of event
Este taller presencial de dos días reunirá a aproximadamente 150 representantes de instituciones internacionales, nacionales y subnacionales, la industria de pinturas, laboratorios, academia, sociedad civil y organizaciones internacionales. Su objetivo es fortalecer las capacidades del Perú para implementar y fiscalizar el límite de 90 ppm de plomo en pinturas, establecido por la Ley N.° 31182 y su Reglamento, aprobado mediante Decreto Supremo N.° 007-2025-SA. Mediante experiencias internacionales, presentaciones técnicas, mesas de diálogo y sesiones de trabajo, se abordarán buenas prácticas de fiscalización, vigilancia de mercado, inspección, análisis de productos, revisión documental, coordinación interinstitucional y promoción del cumplimiento por parte de la industria. El taller también incorporará recomendaciones técnicas de la Alianza Mundial para Eliminar el Uso del Plomo en la Pintura. Esta actividad constituye la primera fase de un programa más amplio de fortalecimiento de capacidades. Una segunda fase práctica se realizará 90-120 posteriores con los funcionarios responsables de las actividades de vigilancia sanitaria y fiscalización

Uganda Lead Safety Roundtable 2026 is a national multi-stakeholder dialogue convened to examine the growing challenge of lead exposure and lead poisoning in Uganda, strengthen the evidence base, and identify practical pathways for prevention and action. Lead exposure is a serious but preventable public health and environmental challenge. It can occur through multiple pathways, including contaminated paint, soil, dust, water, industrial activities, informal recycling and the unsafe handling and recycling of lead-containing products such as used lead-acid batteries. Children and women of child-bearing age are particularly vulnerable to its harmful effects. Despite the potential risks, there is a need for stronger, accessible and coordinated Uganda-specific data to understand where lead exposure is occurring, who is most affected, what the major sources are, and how communities, government, businesses and civil society can respond effectively. The Uganda Lead Safety Roundtable 2026 will bring together government institutions, researchers, health professionals, environmental experts, civil society organisations, academia, industry representatives, waste and recycling actors, development partners and affected communities to: Map the evidence: What data currently exists on lead exposure and poisoning in Uganda, and where are the major evidence gaps? Understand sources and hotspots: What are the major sources and pathways of lead exposure across Uganda? Strengthen data systems: How can Uganda improve lead testing, monitoring, reporting, research and public access to data? Share practical solutions: What interventions are already working, and what can be scaled at community, district and national levels? Strengthen prevention: How can Uganda reduce exposure through better regulation, safer production, responsible waste management and public awareness? Protect vulnerable communities: How can children, workers, informal recyclers and communities living near potential sources of contamination be better protected? Define a way forward: What commitments, partnerships and policy actions are needed to build a coordinated national response? The roundtable will move beyond raising awareness to develop a practical action agenda for lead safety in Uganda, including priorities for research and data generation, policy and regulatory action, community-level interventions, responsible industry practices and collaboration among key stakeholders.

Roundtable discussion: We shall invite various players from the different sections in Uganda to be part off the event so that during the round table discussions we are able to reach a conclusion on various issues that are related to the Lead Poisoning in Uganda that been not really discussed At lengthy.
